We celebrated little Platte's first birthday last month! There wasn't anything too crazy about it, but we had so much fun. He is such a sweet boy! He loves to play with Belle, play with any ball, read books, eat macaroni and cheese and blueberries (not together), snuggle with me, wrestle around with Daddy, walk, and sleep. He is such a content boy. He and Belle are just the best of little friends, and I love watching them play together. Platte loves to watch Belle sing, and dance, and he loves to be wherever she is. He is already really fast, just like his Dad, and can get anywhere almost as fast as I can. Sometimes, it's quite stressful how quick he is. I can't believe he is already one, and at the same time I can't imagine I ever lived without him. He has the sweetest smile that just melts my heart, and he just got his first tooth last week. He says "Mama, Dada, Belle, and ball," which are apparently the most important words. :) We just LOVE our little boy!
Belle's birthday, in September, was just as low-key as Platte's. Maybe next year I will go all out. Maybe not. :) We went bowling the day before her birthday (since it was on Sunday) and she had so much fun. On her birthday we had a family dinner and had cake and ice cream. Belle really is my best friend. We have so much fun together every day. Reading is still her favorite hobby, and we spend lots of time together doing that. She loves to play games with me while Platte naps. She loves to be my helper unloading dishes, or setting the table. She LOVES to sing songs and we almost learn a new one every day! She loves to cook with me and put all the ingredients in. She loves to play with Platte and be his little guardian. She likes to pat his back and tell him everything will be okay, and she loves to get him new toys when he is being fussy. She loves to make him laugh, especially in the car. Oh, the joy of two children laughing their heads off! She is a picky eater, but will usually eat anything I make if she gets to have a bowl of cereal after. She loves when Daddy comes home. They love to play on the tennis court together. Her favorite thing with Daddy is when he puts her to bed. He sings her French songs, and she is getting pretty good at French. We learn a new word everyday, and she loves to sing in French or just point out things and say them in their French word. She LOVES to learn new things, which works well for me since I love to teach. She is the sweetest girl, and I love her to pieces.

I can't tell you how ridiculously excited I was to open this from my parents. I am probably the biggest Roger Federer fan that ever lived, so you know...I can't wait for him to wear this!

I tried taking a cute Birthday picture of Belle before church. I couldn't get a very good one, and this was the funniest. She was singing a song to Platte here. She is quite a ham sometimes, and LOVES to sing.

Right before blowing out the candle...where she burned her lip trying to blow it out, and leaned too far forward so her white shirt got chocolate cake all over it. We had some tears over it. :)
